France & Spain Road Trip – Alps & Pyrenees.
9 nights – driving holiday departing Sunday 13th September 2026.

We’re heading to the south of France for three days of driving great roads in the Alps, before heading to the Pyrenees where we’ll be driving on some amazing roads, criss-crossing the border between France and Spain.
Route summary:
Sunday:
We’ll be meeting for a quick breakfast before heading off on a short drive to the Euro Tunnel terminal. We’ll hop on the train and, 45mins later, arrive in France. We’ll then travel in convoy using the fabulous French autoroute system, heading towards Grenoble, our first overnight stop.
Monday:
After some breakfast, we’ll pack our bags and head towards Cannes, following Route Napoleon, before heading deeper into the Alps, taking in the awesome views and of course some of the greatest roads. We’ll be spending the next two nights here at our hotel.
Tuesday:
No need to pack your bags this morning as this is the first of two nights at this hotel. After breakfast and the daily briefing we’ll head out on the roads. Not far to go as we’re ideally placed, surrounded by mountain passes. We’ll be out for the day, stopping for lunch along the route, before returning to our hotel.
Wednesday:
After breakfast and our briefing, we’ll pack our bags, load up the cars and head out for the second morning of fantastic driving in this area. We’ll have a lunch stop before making our way along some fine roads in the direction of Avignon, where our next hotel awaits.
Thursday:
Wakey wakey! While it’s still dark, let’s find a cup of coffee and head to the summit of Mont Ventoux, beating the cyclists to see the sunrise! What and experience! Now back to the hotel for breakfast. There are then a few hours to play in the surrounding mountains before heading towards the Pyrenees. On route we’ll pass under the engineering masterpiece, the Millau bridge.
Friday:
We’re in the Pyrenees now, different but just as amazing. Let’s get some breakfast and head deeper into the Pyrenees on some truly spectacular roads, and head to our next hotel!
Saturday:
No need to pack your bags this morning as we are staying here for two nights. We’re right in the centre of the Pyrenees, with great driving roads and views in all directions. Remember your passport as we’ll be border hoping between Spain and France for the next days.
Sunday:
We’ll be staying in the Pyrenees again today, driving on never ending wonderful roads, heading towards Pampona for our final evening in a hotel.
Monday:
This is our final day of driving in Spain as our ferry leaves Santander at 5:00PM, heading for Plymouth. We can’t be late for the ferry, but let’s use the best roads available to get us there! There’s normally a relaxed party atmosphere on the ferry home as we reminisce about the experience. You’ll have accommodation in an ensuite, outside cabin (with window), on the ferry crossing.
Tuesday:
We will have been sailing through the night, making progress as we sleep. There’s plenty of time to swap pictures, videos, and chat before we arrive in Plymouth at approximately 2:00PM.
What’s included?
• Outbound cross channel train.
• Return ferry crossing, with ensuite, outside cabin (with window).
• 8 nights hotel accommodation in a mix of 3 and 4 star hotels (usually with pool), with breakfast included. Double, twin, or single rooms are available.
• Walkie talkie for route information, hazards, and general group chat, and a pre-loaded sat nav of our daily routes.
• 1 or 2 experienced driving tour guides, depending on the size of the group.
Please note that petrol and all vehicle related expenses, lunches, evening meals, drinks, and hotel/accommodation extras, upgrades, and room services are not included.
